The fingerprint, Hand/Footprint impressions featured on the Jewellery on our website range from babies to adults impressions. We have tried to include as wide a range of different impressions as possible to give customers a true and fair indication as to the differences in each impression.All fingerprint, Hand/Footprint impressions are unique and individual, and therefore each impression will be different. Fingerprint impressions from babies and young children may be faint, and therefore this will reflect in the finished item. You may wish to consider a nail impression, or a hand/footprint impression to guarantee detail.
The detail of fingerprint will vary from person to person, so please ensure that you are happy with your impressions before you send them onto us. We are unable to accept returns on the basis of the customer being unhappy with the amount of detail in the fingerprint - please consider our alternative suggestions if you think that there is an unacceptable amount of detail in the fingerprint impression that you have taken.
Ordering and Payment
We offer secure online ordering via Paypal. We also accept cheques and international money orders.
If you have any special requests or queries regarding an order, please feel free to e-mail us, as we are always happy to help.
All items will be sent by either Royal Mail signed for or Special Delivery, the Royal Mail Special Delivery option will guaranteed delivery of your Jewellery by 1 pm the following day after posting with the exception of Saturday, your item will be insured against, loss, theft and damage whilst in the possession of Royal Mail. If an item is lost, stolen or damaged when posted using Special Delivery we will remake your item free of charge and post by Special Delivery at no extra charge.
If you choose the Royal Mail Signed For delivery option we do not accept responsibility for an order being lost, stolen or damaged whilst in the care of Royal Mail , and no claim can be made against The Silver Impression Company and any replacement item must be paid for in full by the customer.
Therefore we highly recommend choosing the Special Delivery option during checkout to cover yourself in the event of your jewellery being lost, stolen or damages whilst in the care of Royal Mail.
We accept international orders. Impression kits are sent by standard airmail, and Jewellery by Tracked and Signed For where available, and insurance obtained where possible. We do advise checking with the postal service of the country the jewellery is being sent to before ordering.
We do not accept responsibility for delayed or damaged, lost or stolen jewellery once dispatched.
Lost items: We will obtain a tracking code for International orders. We do not take responsibility for lost or stolen items, and do not offer a refund on these items. Where insured delivery has been obtained, we will assist the customer in obtaining compensation.
Some areas of the UK are exempt from next day delivery such as non-mainland areas. Normally Special Delivery will be received between 9am -1pm the following day, there are some exceptions to this where post is delivered later in the afternoon.
A tracking number can be supplied for your item upon request.
Change of delivery address - If the delivery address changes after an order has been placed, the new address must be changed by the customer by logging into their customer area. If you have not registered as a customer, please register and alter to the correct delivery address. If the new address is not updated we cannot be held responsible for the item being delivered to the original address.
Orders may be cancelled within 14 days of placing your order, for a full refund, If however your Impression Kit has been sent out before you cancel your order, a charge of £5.00 will be made for each Kit.
Orders cannot be cancelled on bespoke items once we have begun work on your Jewellery.
Cancellation of order after 14 days.
If you wish to cancel your order after 14 days of being placed , a credit note will be issued.
All cancellations must be received in writing. Refunds will be made within 30 days of cancellation agreement.
Gift Vouchers can be purchased either as a PayPal Gift Voucher, or as a Gift Card Voucher (please contact us for Gift Card Vouchers)
Vouchers are valid for 12 months from purchase. PayPal gift vouchers are redeemable via PayPal. We are unable to give refunds on Gift Vouchers.
All Jewellery is individually handmade by Jane, this of course takes time and we aim to have your order ready within 28 days of receiving your impressions back, this may be longer during busy periods. Due to the handmade bespoke nature of our Jewellery delivery times are estimated.
Our current production times can be found on our production time page, these will vary depending on the time of year.
A priority service option is available during the checkout process for orders required within a shorter period of time. The charge for the Priority Service is £15.00, and your order will be dispatched within 10-12 working days of us receiving your impressions. If orders are delayed due to unforeseen circumstances, we will dispatch your item as soon as possible. Due to the handmade bespoke nature of our Jewellery delivery times are estimated.
If you require your jewellery for a specific date, we do recommend that you choose the 'Priority Service' . We are unable to guarantee delivery by your 'required by' date if this option is not chosen, and we do not accept responsibility if the jewellery arrives after this date.
Cancellation of your personalised order cannot be made if work has already begun on your item(s). For Priority delivery timescales over the Christmas period, please see information on the 'Christmas information page'. The Priority Service may be withdrawn during busy periods. Please allow an extra 1-2 days during busy periods such as Christmas and Mother and Fathers Day.
If you have not requested the Priority Service option, but require your order by a specific date we may not be able to guarantee delivery for this date, and advise that you select the Priority Service or Express Priority Service. If you have requested your order for a specified date that is less than the 10-12 working days for Priority orders, we may not be able to guarantee delivery for this date.
Please note that due to the handmade nature of our Jewellery very occasionally an item may develop a fault during the firing process, this item will then be remade. If this happens and you have requested your order for a specific date there may be a a possibility that your order will be delayed.
An order form will be sent out with all Impression Kits, you can state on this form the names, dates or text that you wish to have on your Jewellery or any other specification changes you would like to make in the 'Special Requirements' section. If we have any queries regarding your instructions we will contact to you to discuss before we start to make your item. We are always happy to discuss different design options via phone or e-mail, but we must have your particular instructions/requirements (if any) stated on your order form.
The Jewellery images featured on the website are examples only. All Jewellery pieces will be unique and individual. If you have any specific requirements regarding the appearance of your Jewellery this can be stated on the order form sent out with your impression kit, otherwise we will use our artistic judgement when creating your item.
Please be aware that due to the nature of the reclaimed silver used to make our jewellery, slight imperfections may be visible on the surface of the silver. This is a natural effect due to the the size of some of the fine silver particles.
The Chains and Bracelets shown in our images may be updated in style, therefore we reserve the right to change styles when necessary. If a particular chain or Bracelet is not available at the time of making we will contact you to suggest an alternative.
Standard Priority which costs £15.00, your order will be ready to send out within 10-12 working days from receipt of your impressions. During busy periods please allow an extra 1 to 2 working days for production. If you require your order for a specific date, please ensure that this is written in the 'Special Requirements' section of your order form which is enclosed with your impression kit, we cannot guarantee delivery for a specific date if this date is not written on the order form.

Christmas / Mothers Day / Fathers Day:
Due to the high number of orders placed at these times, we will clearly state on our website the latest time for ordering and returning of impressions. Any orders placed, or impressions returned after these dates cannot be guaranteed for delivery before Christmas etc, this includes Christmas Priority orders We are unable to accept cancellation of any orders missing these deadlines once your impressions have been returned. Christmas Orders: Any impressions received shortly after the cut off dates will be started on before Christmas ready for completion after the Christmas/New Year break. These orders will take priority and will be dispatched as soon as possible in the New Year.
Fingerprint and Hand print Impressions
We will supply enough impression compound to take 2 impressions of each fingerprint. If you are not happy with your impressions, please let us know and we will send out another kit free of charge. If a returned fingerprint is deemed by us to be unusable, we will contact you to let you know and send out a new Impression Kit. All our Fingerprint Jewellery will show an exact copy of the impression that you have taken, so please ensure that you are happy with the impression you have taken before returning. Example impressions are available upon request if you are unsure of how your impression should look. Hand and Footprint Impressions are taken using a non-messy ink-less wipe, as used in maternity units. Each hand and footprint is miniaturised to fit onto your chosen item of Jewellery. Fine lines and detail will not appear in the Silver due to the miniaturisation process. We will remove any smudged or blurred areas around the impression, also if any of the fingers in a hand print have been bent during the impression taking process, we can straighten the image.
Fingerprint Impression Kits
Please ensure that you are happy with your impressions before returning to us. We will only contact you if you have not taken your impressions correctly or used the impression compound incorrectly. We cannot be held responsible for impressions not being as detailed as the customer may wish, ordering the incorrect item, or name misspelling by the customer.i
Impression Compound should be used within 1 week of receiving your Impression Kit as the compound will begin to deteriorate after this time.
No charge will be made for a 2nd Fingerprint Impression Kit, but there will be a charge of £5.00 for any further kits sent.A charge of £5.00 will also be made for any extra Hand/Footprint kits.
Text can be added to the reverse of Charms, Pendants and Key rings but not Cuff links. There is no extra charge for this. If your requested text i.e. name or date will not fit onto the front of an item of Jewellery, whether this is because the text is too long, or the impression is large, we will put it on the reverse of the Jewellery, unless you have specifically requested for it to go on the front of the item in the 'Special Requirements' section of the order form. As all fingerprint impressions differ in shape and size, the positioning of names and text will vary from piece to piece, and will be placed in such a way that works best for each individual item.
We take great pride in our craftsmanship and hope that you will be happy with your purchase. We will offer to repair or replace an item that is damaged or faulty, Any item that contains a mistake on our part, such as a misspelt name will be remade free of charge. We cannot accept returns on bespoke personalised orders.
If on the other hand we have not supplied the item you ordered, please first make sure you have ordered correctly, We cannot be held responsible for items of Jewellery not having as clearly defined fingerprints as the customer would like, customers ordering the wrong item or misspelling names or other text. If we have made a mistake on your order, please email us within 7 days of receiving your Jewellery.
If for any reason you need to return an item of Jewellery, please ensure you obtain proof of posting.
If we have supplied the incorrect item, or made a mistake with the item, such as a misspelt name, we will refund the return postage charge. For any item that is being returned for another reason the customer shall cover the cost of postage.
All our Jewellery is quality checked and tested before sending out, please check your Jewellery upon receipt for faults, damage or name misspelling and contact us within 7 days. We only use the highest quality findings and fittings, our Sterling Silver Jump Rings are heavy duty for extra strength, and our Sterling Silver Cufflink Fittings are specially made to order and are strength tested before sending out. Please treat your Jewellery with care as Cufflink Fittings may break and Jump Rings can open if handled roughly. We do guarantee our Sterling Silver findings for 6 months from date of dispatch, We will repair or replace within this time unless the item has broken due to mishandling.The Customer acknowledges that due to the purity of fine silver, .999 jewellery is softer than .925 silver and therefore needs to be handled with special care. If worn every day the item may show signs of wear and tear and the detail may fade. This is more prevalent with charm bracelets and key rings which are more prone to being knocked against hard surfaces.
The silver we use for all our jewellery is 99.9 % silver and is an organic product, because of this and due to the handmade nature of our jewellery small anomalies may appear on the surface of the jewellery, such as little bumps or dips. These can be due to either small irregularities in the fingerprint impression compound which then translate into the silver, or a tiny air bubbles bursting under the surface of the silver during firing. These imperfections are normal and do not detract away from the finished. item.
